  • About the Role

    Responsible for supporting for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Data Center Division with technical writing and meeting facilitation support. Interact with internal and external customers to expedite meeting leads that range from 10-20 people. Key attributes are quick turnaround time, a high-level of professionalism, error-free reports and meeting documentation, problem solving, outgoing and friendly personality and ability to multitask.


    • Prepare briefings, management meetings, and responses to inquiries from DHS officials.
    • Develop detailed, accurate and error-free meeting minutes documenting meeting proceedings.
    • Edit documents ensuring proper grammar, syntax, context and content accurately and effectively reports data.
    • Develop and maintain an action tracking and reporting system to track and report the assignment and completion of action items assigned in meetings and events.
    • Maintain a physical and/or electronic file of OCIO meeting minutes, action items and meeting documents, as requested.
    • Prepare documentation, reports, and project plans to describe activities planned and accomplished, status reports, letters, memoranda, messages, and contact reports.
    • Develop written documents and briefing materials, to include Standard Operating Procedures, templates, and guides.
    • Support working groups, studies and analysis, document reviews, and coordinating meetings as directed.
    • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
    • Knowledge of government or other contracting environment.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications or English preferred.
    • 1-2 years’ experience in the government.
    • Proficient in developing written documents and briefing materials.
    • Experience supporting working groups, studies and analysis, document reviews, and coordinating meetings as directed.
    • Experience with user guides for software applications, security plans, test plans, etc.
    • Ability to recognize grammatical and formatting errors in client document deliverables.
    • Strong interpersonal skills (ability to listen patiently and record/capture client concerns).
    • Proficient PowerPoint and Word.
    • Excellent communications (written and verbal) and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to maintain workload in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
