  • About the Role

    As a Senior Network Engineer you will architect and implement optimal (enterprise coverage, minimal device footprint, minimal network impact) deployments and respective configuration of hardware and software for the Federal enterprise solutions covering a wide-range of topics, including, but not limited to: Configuration Management, Network Access Controls, Malware Defenses, Software Asset Management, Hardware Asset Management, Vulnerability Remediation, Security Event and Log Management, Incident Response, Penetration Testing, Wireless Access Control, Network Monitoring, Boundary Defense,  Continuous Monitoring, and/or others as requested by the Government. 

     

    Responsibilities

    • Automate and streamline repetitive IT processes, at the discretion of the Federal task lead
    • Evaluate best-of-breed products and standards, consistent with Federal guidance
    • Perform product/standards comparisons based upon research, independent lab test result reports, intelligence agency recommendations, and other resources authoritative, mandatory, or compelling to a U.S. Federal agency
    • Schedule and attend conference calls, meetings, demonstrations, conferences, trade shows, and other events with third-party equipment, software, and service vendors for the purposes of market research
    • Provide expert opinion to Federal manager, but will not make product/standards selections on behalf of the Government - Product/standards selection will only be performed by the Government
    • Configure and implement changes to the agency network
    • Provide architecture and engineering solutions to meet project requirements as they relate to the business and functional requirements of the project sponsor
    • Ensure appropriate network and system performance meets requirements, and establish thresholds for performance tool setup and testing
    • Responsible for solution development and testing
    • Solution deployment, integration and implementation
    • Troubleshooting of pre- and post-production rollout issues
    • Tier 3 enterprise issue escalation support

    Required Qualifications

    • 10+ total years of experience in network development, architecture, and engineering with wide area networks (WANs)
    • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure
    • CCNA Certification
    • Strong Communication skills, verbal and written
    • This position requires a clearance and/or badge that involves an extensive background and credit check

    Desired Qualifications

    • Familiarity with Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks
    • Experience with the design and/or implementation of Palo Alto firewall and endpoint protection
    • Experience with the design and/or implementation of the Blue Coat security platform tools
