About the Role

The ISSO works on a larger security team supporting a Federal CISO providing security support services to their assigned systems and the team.


  • Perform independent compliance reviews, tracking, and continuous monitoring of Federal systems
  • Develop security authorization packages for new systems
  • Assist with updating security authorization packages during system modernization
  • Establish presence as the "go to" person for security for assigned systems
  • Understand triggers that would cause security authorization updates
  • Assist the customer (e.g. system owner) with risk management and prioritization
  • Work closely with developers to identify and remediate vulnerabilities
  • Provide security impact assessments and risk assessments during change/configuration management
  • Read and analyze scan results, develop corrective action plans
  • Maintain positive scorecards and seek to continuous improve scores against performance metrics


Required Qualifications


  • 5+ years of experience in information security in the Federal Government
  • Deep understanding of 800-37 and 800-53
  • Knowledge of platforms and technologies such as Windows, Unix, databases, cloud, virtualization, financial systems etc.
  • Expert knowledge on at least two of the above
  • Superior interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written ability
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously; coordinating and ensuring scheduled goals are met
  • Act as the primary POC for security for assigned systems
  • Develop advisory relationship with system owners, customers and other stakeholders
  • Be able to perform vulnerability assessments and interpret scan results
  • Proactive about professional development and willing to obtain one of the following certifications within 6 months: CAP, CASP, CISM, CISSP (or Associate), GSLC, CISA, CEH
  • Enthusiastic about helping eGT grow and supporting the eGT cybersecurity practice
  • Ability to work on customer site 5 days a week
  • Active secret clearance
