About the Role

The ISSO works as an integral member of a team that supports security initiatives for the United States government. 


  • Independently develop Assessment & Authorization (A&A) packages (Risk Assessment, SSP, IT Contingency Plans, etc.)
  • Perform continuous monitoring activities
  • Perform technical risk assessments for planned system changes or when security vulnerabilities are uncovered or suspected
  • Assist in the Security Control Assessment (SCA) process
  • Provide expert advice on a wide range of technologies and platforms
  • Conduct and review vulnerability scans (Nessus, Web Inspect, DbInstect), make recommendations to senior leadership
  • Pro-actively monitor CERT and similar organizations for potential vulnerabilities that could impact assigned systems and develop mitigation plans
  • Manage Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&M) and assist with remediation
  • Work with other contractors on cross-functional teams to solve system issues

Required Qualifications

  • At least 15 years of experience in information security or 8+ years and a Master's degree in a related field
  • Extensive experience developing A&A packages, FISMA and NIST
  • Superior communication skills
  • Experience effectively managing multiple tasks simultaneously; coordinating and ensuring scheduled goals are met
  • Ability to mentor and lead junior staff
  • Take ownership of system security and meeting deadlines
  • Guide engineers, analysts and managers on related programs
  • Experience with Nessus, WebInspect, IP360 and Splunk
  • Strong technical background with at least three of the following: 
    • Windows systems
    • Cloud systems
    • Unix systems
    • Databases
    • Financial systems
    • Enterprise systems
  • At least one active security-related certification or ability to obtain one within 6 months
  • Active Secret clearance
